Pitcher is way ahead in the count.

A hitter is at a complete disadvantage in this count.

With that in mind, pitcher needs to take full advantage here and the goal should be clear: strikeout or weak contact.

Under no circumstance, should a hitter be able to barrel a ball in an 0-2 count.

Prior to entering a game, each pitcher should know what they are feeling and would want to execute in an 0-2 count (BPOD). Take the guess work out of it when you achieve the 0-2 count and have that preparation done prior to toeing the rubber.

With that in mind, the 0-2 pitch will naturally be the pitchers best strength on that given day (BPOD).

By executing a pitch that is a pitchers best strength attacking the hitters weakness, a pitcher will have the advantage and should win that battle many more times than not.

Thought experiment:

What if instead of trying to strikeout every hitter...

What if instead of trying to “beat” every hitter…

What if instead of having no direction or clear objective in an appearance…

...you simply make it your goal to achieve an 0-2 count on each hitter...

...one hitter at a time

...one pitch at a time

This instills a “get ahead” mentality...

the only goal: attack the strike zone!

Allow the hitter to get himself out…
